Season 23/24 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Plymouth Argyle | The EFL Championship

Oh, absolutely. I made the mistake of rewatching highlights of us playing away at QPR 1st game under Laudrup the other day in an Michu thing and I honestly could weep.
What a day that was - imagine throwing all that away.
We were saying as much in the stands yesterday. Some of the players who have graced our side in the last ten to fifteen years were just fantastic.
I think when Laudrup was sacked due to the backstabbing of players whom might have been jettisoned the next season - that was the moment the dream started to fall apart. People say that he would have left at the end of the season anyway - who knew for sure?

If we go down can we be optimistic that we’ll get back anytime soon? Like you say it will have all been thrown away.

Plymouth were not a good side. It had to be bloody Whittaker who really isn't that good but our slow thinkers gifted him one to shove it right up us.
We did, however, show signs of a massive improvement but hamstrung by a small number of players. They have been highlighted above.
It was a penalty and the linesman had a clear view but bottled it and the ref did look to him.
Pace looks like it going to change our enjoyment but the midfield has to be changed or really go with the new flow
gutted that we didnt get at least a point and really frustrated at the end because it reminded me of how we got relegated from the Prem - absolutely no urgency until the last minute.
Whittaker not that good, yeah right😂

He was a typical quality number 10. Would have thrived in our side in years gone by.

Set up chances, shot from outside the box. How anyone can say he wasn't good is baffling.

Then again there are plenty of people who were chuffed to accept £1m for him in the summer. Not even half of what we paid for Kukharevych

When he scored that goal against Man city you could tell he had some magic.

Some of these journos need some balls when interviewing Williams and ask why the Ukrainian guy isn't getting any game time

Like Moore esqe

I thought we were okay. Not good but signs of progress and improvement. Done on one set piece, Yates did Yates things, Paterson's radar was off. Ronald looks a Championship player which is a relief. Some players starting to get the message that forward is the first option, not sure it will take with some of them but being able to play forward to runners helps a lot. Confident there are 3 worse teams than us still.
We were indeed. A bit more than okay for me. Shedding the old bad ways and building the new is never easy yet Luke seems determined, fair play.

Forward being the first option will be music to the ears of the many, not the few. Even the likes of Fults will potentially blossom, having been brought up as an AM in his early career. Grimesy too (despite being one of the very best DCMs in this league).

Pato was slightly below par - but has consistently been our best performer this term. With his Yernited heritage, pedigree and class he is playing a massive senior role in reinvigorating and leading our efforts to play more on the front foot.

Another player unleashed from previous bonkers, egotistical management shackles. Just like Whittaker.

Let's hope Luke continues to unleash the likes of Pato.

Unlike some of our peripheral, bonkers fans who are unable to 'see', and choose to slag off Pato, one of our real gems.

"Yernited heritage"?

Please enlighten and educate us.....
Would love to do an Andrew North Hill and say I'm not here to educate you - however I'm not like Andrew.
Pato was at Yernited academy from a young age to 16ish - in the year ahead of Lingard but for the luck of a few weeks fell into the most challenging grade age - and was ultimately released where he then earned his stripes in the big man's world at Walsall where he determinedly punched above his will-o'-the-wisp physique to excel. Just as he does today.

How about, “Luke, a little unlucky today, but you’ve lost the last 4 games 12-2 and Jerry Yates couldn’t score in a brothel. Why aren’t you giving the 2m forward on the bench as many chances as Yates is totally wasting?”

I didn't know that.

I'm sure those experiences at Manchester United will prove invaluable in our battle against relegation to league 1 16ish years later.
