just flew past my window and then hovered less than about 10 metres above the ground for about 2 minutes then flew off, came back and repeated the same manoeuvre several times, they're still there for the 5th time as I'm typing. I guess it's a training exercise but it's a bloody noisy one.

Funny you should say that, if you look at the bottom of this pic, you can see part of a flock of about 1000 starlings who didn't seem all that bothered tbh
