Was just coming out of the garage earlier today ( I say garage, it's more like a lockable skip tbh), and I heard a commotion from near our bird feeders and when I investigated, saw this female Sparrowhawk had stopped by for lunch. Sadly, the victim was one of our regular and very welcome Great Spotted Woodpeckers who nest near here.Image

Thank you Mutey, it came out well considering it was through glass.

Yes, disappointed about the woodpecker, both adults have been daily regulars at our feeders and bring a glorious splash of colour every visit. We had a whole family there one time last year but that may not happen this year now one of the adults is no more.:-(
