Cooper left to rue missed chances

You could argue that over the past 5 games that the Swans have deserved to take the full 15 points available such has been the level of our performances.  Which will be why it must hurt Steve Cooper when he looks back on a game of missed chances and realises that those 5 good performances have yielded just 8 points for his side.

The width of a post, poor finishing and one clinical finish from the home side was the difference between leaving Norwich yesterday with at least a point under our belt and nothing as the Swans head into the international break still in the play off positions in the league but having missed the chance to go top.

A win yesterday would have seen us scale the summit of the Championship but we should not get too disheartened given the level of the performances but we have to start turning these games where we play well into the wins that the performances deserve or we will continually look back and wonder ‘what might have been’.

And as Cooper looked back on the game itself then he was certainly in that mood to think about what could have happened “It’s tough to take, we created more than enough chances to win the game,” said the Swansea head coach.

“We have to look at ourselves, and it is a bit raw because of the nature of it with the goal coming so late.

“Freddie has not had a real save to make, and their keeper has probably made more saves today than he has all season.

“We are just disappointed not to put the chances away. I thought we could have been on the front foot more in the first half, but we did that in the second half and there were points up for grabs.”

The game’s best two chances for the Swans both fell to Jamal Lowe who saw both saved by Tim Krul in the home side’s goal with the Swans in total having 19 goal attempts with five on target.
