More to come?

As the transfer window officially reaches its last few days there is much speculation still to be resolved at Swansea with departures and arrivals seemingly likely in the next 48 hours or so.

The futures of Joe Rodon, Matt Grimes and now Andre Ayew are all still the subject of speculation almost ten days after Sky Sports dedicated a whole day with a countdown to a transfer window closing when the reality was it hadn’t closed at all – something we have known all summer.

It just highlights how little attention Sky pay to anything outside of the Premier League when you consider that Premier League clubs can still transact with sides from the EFL and all three of the players mentioned are linked with moves to the top flight.

For Rodon it s a case of whether Spurs will make their move official and nearer the Swans valuation of one of their international defenders.  There is increased speculation too that they could make a move and immediately loan Rodon back to us for the remainder of the season which would no doubt reduce the price at which they could sign the defender.

For Ayew it was West Ham linked yesterday but this one seems unlikely given the fact that he has been there before although it is widely known (and accepted?) that the Swans would be happy to take his wages off the bill to increase our sustainability.

For Grimes, none of the summer speculation seems anything but that.

In terms of incomings, yesterday’s speculation increased that we are looking – and possibly favourites – to bring in Harry Wilson from Liverpool on loan.

The 23-year-old played 31 times in the league for Bournemouth scoring seven goals.

Wilson enjoyed a year loan spell with Derby previously where he impressively bagged 18 in all competitions under Frank Lampard.

The move for Wilson is one that makes sense with Cooper known to want to increase his squad more but being hampered by the tight budgets within which is is asked to operate.

Add to that some other transfer links for strikers and possibly a defender in Cameron Carter-Vickers (which again seems to be linked in with any Spurs move for Rodon) and you have an interesting (and possibly worrying) few days for Steve Cooper as he prepares to welcome back his international players ahead of the weekend clash with Huddersfield.
