Wycombe 0 Swansea 2

The Swans continued their impressive away form under Steve Cooper this afternoon with a second victory on the road this season thanks to first half goals from Andre Ayew and Jamal Lowe which made for a very comfortable early afternoon from our perspective.

With the Swans showing an unchanged side from the team that started against Birmingham last weekend it is starting to show like consistency in Cooper’s team selection something which maybe wasn’t always afforded to him last season.

It took just 13 minutes for the Swans to open their account thanks to Ayew’s first strike of the season.  With Wycombe searching for their first win of the season this was perfect timing and just what the Swans needed as we looked to build on the win at Preston two weeks ago.

It was just ten minutes later that Lowe grabbed the second – and his first Swansea goal – when he tapped home after an intricate passing move found him played in by Ayew and it was the simplest of chances to double the advantage.

The Swans naturally were less attack minded in the second half but always looked the most likely to add to the tally in a game where there felt plenty of chances with the Swans spurning some good ones to add to their lead – Lowe, Gibbs-White, Bidwell and Ayew may all feel that they did better and good have grabbed their first goals of the season.

It is a strange position at the moment as the lack of crowds is deemed to take away any ‘normal’ home advantage and yet the Swans style of play seems better suited and gets better results away from the Liberty which doesn’t make a large amount of sense.

However, we have played three league games this season, are yet to concede a goal and have seven points from the nine available and sit in a nice lofty position in the league table.   For all the frustrations that we may have had in last week’s draw with Birmingham there are not too many Swans fans who wouldn’t have taken that when the season started two weeks ago.

The fear is still that we may see the departure of the likes of Rodon and Ayew in the last week or so of the Premier League transfer window and we also shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that I still think we need an out and out goalscorer but we should not hide away from the fact that right now we will be seen as promotion candidates, let’s hope we can continue to live up to that billing.

But for now, happy with our first three games as we should be
