Cooper waits on injury concerns

Steve Cooper admitted yesterday that he was given Mike van der Hoorn and Wayne Routledge every chance to recover from the knocks that they picked up on Wednesday night as he prepares his side for the play off semi final against Brentford.

Two goal hero Routledge and defender van der Hoorn both ended the game watching from the sidelines, the defender replaced at half time and Routledge straight after he had scored the crucial goal that propelled the Swans into the play offs on an incredible night in Berkshire.

With the Swans already missing Kyle Naughton who sits out the final match of his three match suspension for a moment of madness at Nottingham Forest, Cooper will be hopeful he will be able to call on some of his more experienced players in the crunch match.

Wayne and Mike came off with injuries the other day, we are not ruling them in or out, we will give them every chance and see where we are at,” said the Swans head coach.

We have spoken about Mike a lot, he is an important player and we have had to manage his minutes.

So, to go from no games to three in a few days was a bonus and a credit to Mike.

We would not normally do that, so I am not surprised he has got knocks and pulls in other parts of his body.

We will have to work hard with him and Wayne, and with everybody. We have played a lot of games with not many days in between.

With over 400 appearances in a Swans shirt between them and a time of the season when experience can be invaluable it is easy to understand why Cooper is keeping his options open with both players and it would certainly be a boost to see both in the matchday squad come Sunday evening.

The game at the Liberty kicks off at 6.30pm and is live on Sky Sports.
