Scott – I Have A Point To Prove

Scott Sinclair heads back to Stamford Bridge believing he has a point to prove to the London club

Sinclair returns a little over a year after his permanent departure with the Swans who are now a Premier League team in his own right.

And he admits that he never really felt part of things at Chelsea as he explained to the Evening Postย “You don’t really feel a part of it unless you play

“It’s great being 18 and being around the Premier League, but you only feel a part of it when you’re playing regularly.

“When you’re winning all these trophies, you can only feel a part of the team when you’ve played in the game.

“I’ve been looking forward to this since the start of the season,” Sinclair says.

“It’s going to be a tough game but it will be nice to see some old friends and to be back at the Bridge.

Enjoyed

“I would say I have a point to prove. The main thing for me is to get regular football and that’s why I left.

“I don’t have any grudges and I’m not bitter about how I left.

“I enjoyed my time there and learnt a lot under some of the best managers.

“I always go into a game thinking I’m going to score,” he says. “I’m feeling confident and it’s great we got the win last week to spur us on. It’s great to go into this game on a high. “It would be great to get a goal, and it will be a bit weird going back and playing against some old friends.”

There is a sense of excitement buzzing around Swansea following last weekend’s victory, a positive atmosphere Sinclair has relished since he first signed for the club.

“This was a fresh start. I have a manager in Brendan Rodgers who believes in me, and I’m playing week in, week out,” he says.

“People could say it was a gamble but I knew that, one day, I would be back in the Premier League. No matter how, and no matter when.

“I did (have to take a pay cut) but that’s just one of those where you need to take a drop.

“I have no regrets. You want to get to the top, but you have to play every week to achieve that.

“As soon as I signed for Swansea I knew it was the right decision.

“Everyone’s enjoying it, and there’s no pressure on us whatsoever,” he says.

“We can go there and create chances. The gaffer has said the goals would come, and they did last week.

“So hopefully we can keep creating chances and the goals will keep coming.”
