Rodgers Places Doubts On Ferrie’s Future

The Swansea City manager admits that it will be difficult for Bodde to break into the side this season and that may mean he never gets the chance to wear the white shirt again.

Bodde’s current contract expires in the summer and talks have so far not produced a new contract for the player who has suffered over two years of injury hell since first suffering the problem back in November 2008.

Brendan told the Evening Post “I think it will be difficult for him to play this season

“For one you have to consider how long Ferrie has been out. It will be difficult for him to get up to match speed — and to get into the team.

“I will not just throw the players who have got us where we are to the garbage.

“They have been fantastic, so I think the reality is that it will be difficult for him.

“He has been doing the one-to-one work he needs in Holland in preparation for coming into the group

“He is due to come back at the end of this month and he will still be two or three months away so we are looking at April.

“We want to give Ferrie every chance, but he has to give himself every chance as well.”

Rodgers was also asked whether Ferrie would play for Swansea again, “I hope so.” he added

“He is certainly someone who, if he can get back to the level he was at when a host of clubs were chasing him, is a big player. There’s no question about that.

“It’s because of that level he can get to that we have to give him every chance as a football club. The club have been fantastic with him contractually. They have given him time to get himself right and have been very fair. We hope like everyone does that he can back to his best because he can be a top player at this level.”
