Cotterill: Improved Fitness Is The Key

And the Swansea City man believes that the inmproved fitness is the key to late points salvaged against the likes of Doncaster which keeps the Swans in a strong position at 3rd in the league.

“It was really important for us to get a point at Doncaster because we at least deserved a draw,” he told the Evening Post.

“I was confident we would get the goal in the end because we kept probing and probing.

“The boys didn’t tire and I think the amount of pressure we put on them made their defence crack. You saw it against Boro and you saw it at Doncaster — it’s a sign of our durability.

“We are fitter now compared to last season. When we are on the ball, we are moving it quickly around the pitch and asking more questions of the defence.

“Last season we didn’t really do that. We sat on the ball and were very cautious, but I think we are reaping the rewards of the manager’s approach this season. It’s looking very promising for us and it could be the difference for us this time.

“Of course I want to be starting every game, but I have to look around and realise the manager has plenty of players to come in

“The manager is keeping everyone happy because we know how important it is that everyone in the squad plays their part.”
