Dimi Aiming For No1 Keeper Spot

On loan Greek Shot-stopper Dimitros Konstantopoulos will play no part in tomorrow evening’s clash at the Ricoh Arena against his parent club Coventry City but has expressed his bitter disappointment at not facing the Sky Blues.

Extending his loan deal from the West Midland’s club last week the former Hartlepool United keeper has admitted it will be strange sitting on the sidelines as he told the SWEP, “This game will be strange for me. I have never been in this position before. I want to play every game so it’s frustrating to lose my shirt but rules are rules.”

Reclaiming back his spot between the sticks for the much anticipated derby clash against Cardiff City on Sunday is the 29 year old’s top priority and is hoping to usurp Dorus De Vries and become Swansea’s first choice keeper, he said “It has come at the wrong time and I wish I could play, but I aim to come back for the next game on the back of a good result.”

“I’m here to play games. I know Dorus played all last season but that’s what I’m here for and what I want to do. It’s good competition which drives you forward. If you are by yourself you have no pressure and without knowing it you don’t give 100 per cent so it will be good for us.”

On the road Roberto Martinez’s side have played with freedom and after the vastly impressive 3-2 win over Norwich another away win will keep Swansea in the mix for a play off spot. Despite Coventry’s poor start to the season Chris Coleman’s side will be tough opposition as Konstantopoulos has been quick to point out, he added “Coventry have had a tough time playing at home rather than away. I don’t know whether that’s the pressure of the fans or what because I’ve not been there for the last month.Coventry are similar to Birmingham with a few long balls, but they have a lot of individual performers they rely on so it will be an exciting one.”
