De Vries Relishing Swansea Return

Swansea City will welcome back to the fold Dorus De Vries tomorrow as the 27 year old looks all but set to start between the sticks for the first time since his facial injury sustained in the goalless draw against QPR last month.

Sporting a face mask to protect his cheek and jaw bones tomorrow evening the Dutchman will return ahead of schedule. De Vries could not contain his delight at returning to action and has even admitted he felt strange to be on the sidelines as he outlined on the clubs official site, “I’ve found it strange not playing, especially when you consider I’ve played virtually every game since I signed for the club 16 months ago. I’ve trained hard, especially over the last week, and I’m fit and can’t wait to get back out there.”

Refusing to let the injury knock his confidence the Beverwijk born goalkeeper has insisted that the injury has not affected him mentally, he said “It was a nasty injury, but I’m over it and I won’t hesitate to go in where it hurts again. Mentally, it hasn’t affected me at all.

“In fact I’m back ahead of schedule. The specialist said I would be out for six to eight weeks, but it will be exactly five weeks on Tuesday night.”

Not only has the prospect of the Dutchman’s return exited the former Ado Den Haag man himself but his manager. Singing De Vries’s praises Roberto Martinez has expressed his delight in having the keeper at his disposal, Martinez said “He’s been training really well and it’s great timing to have him available again.”

Young Polish keeper Artur Krysiak is expected to be promoted to the bench for tomorrow’s encounter against Coventry.
